I would like to inform the McGill community that Dr. Richard Bruno, Director of the Office of Technology Transfer, will be resigning from the University as of January 31st, 2006. Dr. Bruno has led OTT since June 1, 2004. He was instrumental in putting in place a new business plan for this office, which promotes knowledge transfer and the commercialization of research. During Dr. Bruno's tenure, the office has grown to include divisions in the areas of business development, IT and paralegal services.

Note that he is an expert in digital imaging and media, inter alia, and is
considered "father of the compact CD". His company launched MPEG digital

RESUME
Dr. Bruno is an entrepreneur, executive and technologist with extensive
business development experience.
He is best known for his over twenty-five years of pioneering work on Solar
Energy, Optical media (CD-ROM, CD-i, CD-Video, DVD), Multimedia, Minitel,
Video Conferencing (H.32x), Tele-learning, and GIF, JPEG and MPEG imaging
either with Philips-Sony or at PRISM Interactive Corporation and Beyond If [soon come]
Corporation. His standardization and product launch of these technologies
has established his reputation as an expert in these areas around the world.
An innovator, manager and businessman with extensive international business
contacts, Dr. Bruno was involved in the multimedia revolution from its
inception in the late 70’s and throughout the 80’s at Philips
Electronics N.V.. Subsequently, as the founder-entrepreneur in five
start-up companies and as an industry consultant, Dr. Bruno and his
associates have helped to create product solutions of significant global
presence, reach and impact in the digital media and imaging areas. Dr.
Bruno is currently active in compter security solutions using the
peer-to-peer paradigm.
For four years, Dr. Bruno was also a professor at the Technical University
of Munich and at DePaul University. Dr. Bruno has written six technical
books, over sixty technical and scientific publications, over eighty
industry and government reports. He has about a dozen patents and is fluent
in five languages.
