Welcome to Sedbergh, we are pleased to see that you are considering our school for your child's secondary level and university preparatory education. We encourage you to take the time and explore our web site. It is designed to help you (and your child) understand why Sedbergh is the right choice. Our intentionally small school community of 90 students is diverse on all levels. At the start of the 2006 school year, our students came from as near a Montebello and as far as China. Our multi-cultural envrionment represents 30% of the student body with countries of origin including: Bangladesh, Bolivia, Canada, China, Germany, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, United Kingdom and United States. As a school much in demand, we encourage you to apply early (prior to March is ideal). Our senior grades (11 and 12) rarely have space for new students. Entrance in grade 9 or earlier in 7 and 8 is highly recommended to secure a position for the higher grades. Our selection procedures are competitive as Sedbergh is not for everyone. Sedbergh students are not selected based on their academic performance alone, we look for individuals who will thrive in a supportive and challenging environment; those who are willing to take responsibility for their actions and make positive contributions, to the school community. To this end, we see in our mission appropriate students the potential to instil the school's motto "Felicitas Libertas Virtus - Happiness is freedom, freedom is courage" is instilled. If you feel that Sedbergh is a good place for your child, contact the admissions office by email or telephone (819 423 5523). We will be pleased to answer your questions, mail an application package or schedule a campus visit. We look forward to meeting you soon. Joanna A.A. Hoad Assistant Headmaster Enrolment, Advancement
